Still using manual invoices, messy spreadsheets, or paper processes? 2026 could be the year to upgrade, and government grants may help reduce the cost.

Ace Business will be at SMEs Go Digital Day 2026 to showcase Xero accounting software, and this quick guide is for SMEs who want to understand what funding support may be available before grant timelines change or end.

Three grants SMEs should know

  1. PSG Grant

The Productivity Solutions Grant (PSG Grant), can support eligible businesses adopting approved digital solutions.

For qualifying company, the PSG Grant may cover up to a maximum of 50% of eligible costs.

This can help SMEs explore tools such as:

  • Accounting systems

  • HR and payroll software

  • Inventory management

  • Customer management systems

  • Digital workflow solutions

  1. SFEC Grant

The SkillsFuture Enterprise Credit (SFEC Grant), can be used to offset up to 90% of out-of-pocket costs for supported programmes and solutions. However SFEC will be ending by 30 November, so do plan and start EARLY to utilize this grant!

This may help companies reduce the cost of transformation, training, and capability-building initiatives.

  1. GST InvoiceNow Transition Grant

This is a S$1,000 direct cash payout disbursed via PayNow Corporate by the IMDA to help smaller companies offset network connectivity fees.

All grants are subject to approval. Eligibility, support levels, claim amounts, and timelines may vary based on the grant rules and your company’s application. All these grant are able to be used for Xero Accounting System!

Why Plan Early Instead of Waiting

Many SMEs only start preparing when they urgently need a system, risking delays.

Planning early allows time to:

  • Check grant eligibility

  • Compare suitable solutions

  • Prepare documents

  • Avoid rushed decisions

  • Apply before funding changes or deadlines

Grant applications are not instant approvals. Businesses need time for quotations, system scope, documents, and internal readiness.

Common Mistakes Businesses Make

Grants can help, but mistakes can cause delays. Avoid these errors:

  • Buying a solution before checking grant requirements

  • Assuming every company will qualify

  • Choosing software that doesn't fit daily operations

  • Missing required documents

  • Waiting until the last minute

  • Forgetting that approval is not guaranteed

The best approach: Check first, plan early, then apply properly.

What the grant can actually do

Government grants can help reduce the cost of digital adoption.

They can support business upgrades that improve:

  • Daily admin work

  • Sales tracking

  • Staff coordination

  • Stock control

  • Claims and reporting

  • Customer follow-up

That means fewer manual tasks and better visibility across the business.
