Microsoft has launched a new graphic design tool that uses generative artificial intelligence (AI) to create content from user prompts.
Designer is powered by the latest version of OpenAI's Dall-E and allows users to simply write a description of the output they want, with the AI responding with a created graphic design.
The service, which is similar to Canva but with AI, is a significant departure from traditional content apps, and could have a significant impact on the graphic design industry.
However, instead of signaling the end of the profession, it is hoped that Designer will empower people and increase their productivity, particularly those who need a creativity boost or who are artistically challenged.
Designer is just one of Microsoft's many AI-driven offerings, and the app is a prime example of how far generative AI has come.
Microsoft Designer was only available through a waitlist until recently, but now users can access the new AI tool for free by visiting Designer.Microsoft.com.
