The authors of newly discovered Saturn ransomware have set up a portal on the dark web, offering cyber crooks free access to their malicious code. This marks a sea change. Ransomware authors typically ask for an upfront free before they release their code. The Saturn hackers say on their portal after the ransomware has been downloaded: “You are ready to start infecting people… if you have specified $300 as the ransom, you will get $210 we will get $90.”
This reveals just how competitive the ransomware market is. The creators of Saturn want to ensure cyber crooks use their ransomware and not one of the many other strains available.
