Today I will be sharing with you on the common types of social engineering attacks.
Just to list a few, they would be
Business Email Compromise (BEC)
Phishing attacks
Pretexting
Scareware
Business Email Compromise (BEC)
Scammers will impersonate a higher up, supplier or vendor, send an email and request for payment to be process urgently.
It is advisable to give a quick call to verify with the personnel before processing payment to avoid falling for the scammers trick.
Phishing Attacks
Scammers tend to make the emails or text message look like it is a genuine email from the original sender or organization.
Once you click on any links or attachment in the email, they can gain access to your information or install malware onto your computers.
Pretexting
Scammers typically ask victims for certain information, stating that it is needed to confirm the victim's identity.
Scareware
They would normally try to scare the victim into believing they have a virus on their device and would be made to pay for fake antivirus software.
